Seven years ago Roji Prasai was a student expecting to be a mother soon. With all these circumstances she had a lot of financial needs to take care of. The only issue, finding a job that would allow her the flexibility she needed to take care of her child. She soon realized having her own business was the only solution so she got to work to fight the odds stacked against her. Eventually, Roji worked with a business partner at Alante Salon providing many beauty services. It was located right along Guadalupe St. so that college students could get their eyebrows done, their haircut, or any other service offered by Alante.
Soon after she had to close down Alante with her partner, but she didn’t let that stop her. Now she opened Aura Eyebrow Threading & Spa and took her previous experience into her new business. She was extremely scared of not having customers and making revenue but her hard work made sure that did not happen. She emphasized how researching target clientele and the location of your business is so important in becoming a success. Therefore, Roji experienced great advancement after opening her second location and she mentioned possibly opening more.
Roji started with no experience and without any kind of advantage. However, she was persistent and patient in both of her experiences and enjoyed talking about her journey. Even with her already busy life she was willing to be flexible and hope out two UT students because she’s so kind. She is taking care of her children and only works at the salon on Thursdays at certain times but she still contributes so much to her business. She’s in charge of payroll and management and does it all with a smile. Roji is a hard-working woman who when asked what advice she would give to future entrepreneurs encouraged risk-taking, doing research, and practicing patience to those who are willing to take control and fight the odds.
