What we're about.

The Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute’s Student Board serves to empower women to lead and encourage the world to follow. We equip, empower, and build community within UT students to freely explore entrepreneurship whether they are a founder, leader, an ally, or curious.

What is the Student Board?

The Student Board’s (SB) mission is to align the programs and events of the KS WEL Institute with the needs and interests of students at UT Austin. Based on KS WEL Institute’s three core pillars: 1) empowering, 2) equipping, and 3) building community, the SAB hopes to be a space where students at UT Austin can feel empowered through mentorship and leadership opportunities, equipped through personal and professional development programs and events, all while building community with like-minded students.

Members of SB have the unique opportunity to begin building a female-focused future, connect with the Austin entrepreneurial community, and find ways to make a positive impact in the world around you. We believe entrepreneurship looks like more than just starting your own business, so whether you already have a business, or just want to learn more about how entrepreneurial principles can be applied to whatever you’re passionate about, the SAB has a place for you.

"I joined SAB because I wanted to be involved with uplifting women within the entrepreneurship space. There’s so much teamwork, creativity, and innovation involved in both entrepreneurship and the Student Advisory Board that I love. I’ve truly appreciated every moment of planning events and fundraisers with women from unique backgrounds, majors, and perspectives!”

FAQ

What if I applied previously and was not selected?

Do not worry! SB is a holistic application process and we want to learn from you! In your application, feel free to write about what you have accomplished since the last application session. We also plan to have a meet and greet and we would love to see you there!

How can I best convey my experience and interests on the application?

In the application, we will ask you what you’ve been involved with that UT as well as if you’ve been involved with KS WELI before. Please share those experiences that you had and the different projects that you worked on through other organizations or through KS WELI. Furthermore, we also ask you what events you have been through because we love to hear about your experiences at them.
