What International Women's Day Means to Me

International women’s day is celebrated every year on March 8th to celebrate strong women leaders everywhere. This day brings light to the amazing achievements of women across industries, experiences, interests. Furthermore, it encourages gender equality for women and acknowledges how far society has come over the past decades.

This day symbolizes women joining together and brainstorming ideas to solve a problem in the community, letting their creativity shine. They exhibit their independence and strength and share their personal experiences with others. Women business leaders have spent decades dismantling stereotypes and motivating other women to follow their own entrepreneurial aspirations. These courageous leaders are working to establish a workplace atmosphere that celebrates diversity and encourages the advancement of other employees.

As the founder and business owner of Akki’s Cupcakery, a company dedicated to creating baked goods for people with dietary restrictions, it truly has been one of the most exhilarating experiences. I took the risk to start the company on my own, with the support of friends and family as I noticed a market need. It is not only rewarding to provide a service to the community, but also inspire other young women to pursue their passions. As a woman of color, it can be hard to overcome societal stereotypes and barriers. Through my pure passion and dedication, I was able to challenge the status quo and create a company that I am truly proud of.

Every day is a day to celebrate the fearless women leaders who have transformed the business landscape, and I am grateful to be part of KS WELI, an organization committed to empowering women and encouraging the world to follow.
