This year, February brought the celebration of love to the UT Campus, with speedway radiating pink and red. Tables, stands and outfits were decked out in the festive colors on February 14th. UT embraced the season with plenty of Valentine’s Day events throughout campus, allowing all students to participate in this celebration on and leading up to Valentine’s Day.
Bunches of Love
Encouraging community gathering and connection, Jester West’s “Bunches of Love” on February 13th gave students the chance to create bouquets of fresh flowers with friends and neighbors in the Jester West Lobby. These hand-picked flowers allowed for beautiful creations along with a fun and free activity for students. Snacks and treats were provided, and students walked away with a fun hand-made holiday token.
Valentine’s Flower Delivery
The American Medical Student Association’s “Valentine’s Flower Delivery” encouraged students to express their love and appreciation for others in a memorable and unique way. Students could purchase real or Lego flowers to be hand-delivered to loved ones in any on-campus residence hall. Participants could add an extra surprise to their delivery with the option to request a song or dance from the deliverer. This allowed students to surprise any friend or significant other with a little treat on this special day.
Crush Grams
Through another unique and creative initiative, Campus Events and Entertainment allowed students to purchase “Crush Grams:” a Crush orange soda that could be sent to a friend, partner, or crush. Students across campus received unexpected orange sodas, leaving many with a cute and tasty surprise. This initiative brightened many students’ days while fostering romance and friendship.
Galentines Card Making
Within KS WELI, we celebrated Galentine’s Day on February 13th, creating handmade cards to show our love and support for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is a nonprofit organization providing space for families traveling for their children’s medical care. This activity allowed us to connect with Student Board members while contributing to an important cause, while working to brighten the days of others.
