SheReads Workshop #2

On March 25th, KS WELI hosted the second of its three-part SheReads workshop, based on Tiffany and Leon Chen’s It’s Not Just Cookies. General, committee, and executive members are all given the opportunity to participate in these events to further embrace their entrepreneurial spirits through first hand stories from authors and business owners. In addition to these workshops, the SheReads committee organized a book drive earlier this semester to help incorporate philanthropy into KS WELI’s classic SheReads events.

Greeted with a fresh batch of Tiff’s Treats cookies, I was excited to see what this workshop had in store. Upon finding a seat, the first thing I noticed was what appeared to be some sort of clue pertaining to a chapter of It’s Not Just Cookies.

And not to my surprise, the workshop’s activity was a scavenger hunt with various clues around the room that revealed a mystery message. We were split up into random partners, which is something I love about KS WELI workshops, as I am constantly interacting and working with new people that I otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to.

We spent the remainder of the meeting getting to know one another, solving the various clues and teaming up with other groups for efficiency, increasing the social aspect of SheReads. I really enjoyed the setup of this workshop, as it served as a nice break from classes and homework, while still providing learning experiences about the entrepreneurial journey of Tiff’s Treats.

I learned the little anecdotes that led to Tiff’s Treats’ success, in addition to Tiffany’s entrepreneurial motives. The final SHEreads workshop will include a panel and book signing with Tiffany herself. This engaging activity certainly got me excited to watch everything we have learned this semester come together.
