The Kendra Scott Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (KS WELI) works to strengthen the next generation of creative and courageous women leaders who will change the world in business and beyond. The KS WELI has many different curricular and co-curricular programs such as KS WELI-sponsored courses within the Women in Entrepreneurship specialization in the Entrepreneurship minor at UT Austin, student organizations, speaker series, FoundHER program, and so many more.
In order to highlight all of these great equipping tools and programs, the KS WELI threw a 3rd Birthday party on September 24th, 2022 to reflect on the past 3 years and raise awareness in the UT and Austin community for the future of women leaders and entrepreneurs.
The birthday party was from 10-12PM at the Kendra Scott Center on campus at The University of Texas at Austin. Students lined up down the sidewalk before the beginning of the event. The event was focused on growing awareness about the KS WELI and encouraging everyone that they can find their fit within one (or many) of the different KS WELI programs. There was rooms set up that each housed a different KS WELI topic: FoundHER program, Organizations (Alumni Board, Student Board, and Student Council), Women in Entrepreneurship specialization within the Entrepreneurship minor at McCombs School of Business, Signature events (pitch competitions, Dream to Venture, International Women's Day, SHEspeaks, empowHER Hour), and KS WELI 101. Kendra Scott's new book, Born to Shine, was also featured as a part of the KWELI SHEreads program.
The birthday had a final attendance count of around 185 students, alumni, staff, and community members. Engagement skyrocketed during and after the birthday party on all KS WELI channels, including social media. This event was able to share our KS WELI resources with female-identifying students, faculty, alumni, and community members in and around UT Austin. This was the biggest KS WELI signature event to date, and we cannot wait to see the impact the KS WELI will continue to make.
#Empowering women to lead.
#Encouraging the world to follow.
